Like Alec Baldwin on SNL, “productivity” just keeps coming back in a leading role for Bionic. Our core annual planning theme for 2025 is (again) “productivity.”
As in the past, productivity means getting more done with less effort. However, in 2025, the technologies empowering productivity improvements will be different, most notably with AI.
More Workflow Automation
“Cost advantage is one of the two types of competitive advantage a firm may possess,” according to Michael Porter in the business school classic Competitive Advantage.
In 2025, we’ll continue to add and enhance features that enable you to automate your media planning and media buying workflows.
Workflow automation is one of the main reasons advertising agencies get Bionic for Agencies. We will continue to double down on workflow automation that helps you get more done with less effort. This gives you a competitive advantage, helps you win and retain clients, and enables you to operate more profitably.
2025 is the “Year of Now” for AI
For AI: “2023 was the year of wow, 2024 was the year of how, and 2025 will be the year of now.” according to Sir Martin Sorrell in Episode 102 of the Marketecture Podcast.
This seems like a solid bet.
Back in 2023, many of us were introduced to the capabilities of generative AI with the introduction of OpenAI’s ChatGPT. In 2024, many of us started using AI in our personal workflows. In 2025, we’ll see systematic integration of AI into everyday business workflows through the tools we use.
Here at Bionic, we believe AI will give you superhuman capabilities. In fact, it’s built right into our name and our Guiding Belief.
2025 is Going to Be a Big Year for AI Agents
“It’s not just about the practical use cases we can already imagine with AI agents — it’s about the impractical ones that will suddenly become possible.” 👈 Love this quote from Dharmesh Shah in his 3 Predictions for the Future of AI Agents in 2025.
Here at Bionic, we’ll be focusing on AI Agents that:
- Integrate with your media planning and media buying workflows
- Collect and synthesize information
- Uncover Insights
- Generate reports, documents, emails, etc.
- Act on your behalf
We aren’t going to “boil the ocean” by implementing every kind of AI agent in 2025. That would be impossible (and obsolete very quicky). Instead, we want to prove the utility of agents by implementing specific use cases. We expect to be working on agents for years to come.
Focus on Interoperability
We cannot and should not do this alone. We’ll work with you and other business partners in creating these agents.
To unlock the full productivity potential of AI and other automation, we’ll be adding more interoperability between Bionic and other systems.
Bionic already supports dozens of integrations. You’ll see more integrations and tighter integrations in 2025. Plus, you’ll get an option to interact with Bionic media plans via API.
We expect most of the AI agents will live outside Bionic. We expect you and others to create your own proprietary agents that interact with Bionic. Your proprietary agents will give you the other type of competitive advantage: differentiation.
Faster, Faster, Faster
You need your tools to operate at the speed of thought. You also expect your tools to do a lot of work. This creates a technical challenge for software providers like us. We’re up for this challenge… it’s our job.
As part of our system monitoring, we track the speed of every screen and API in our system. This enables us to identify areas of the software that need improvement.
In 2024, we made technical breakthroughs that turned sluggish screens with heavy workloads into lightning quick screens. In 2025, we’ll proliferate these and other speed improvements throughout our system.
Automation Keeps Your Bionic Costs Low, Too
We not only build automation for our customers, but we also build it for ourselves.
We use automation internally to improve our service and to keep our costs (and prices) down. For example, we built an AI-powered customer support agent named Jaime. Currently, Jaime handles repetitive, time-consuming tasks like user setups.
Of the 5,832 customer support tickets that we handled as a company in 2024, Jaime handled 3,363 of them. On other words, Jaime handled 57.7% of our support tickets. These tickets would normally take about 20 minutes each to complete. So, Jamie saved us about 1,121 hours of work in 2024, which more than half an FTE working at full tilt.
You’ll see more from Jaime in 2025.
We Welcome Your Automation Ideas
Do you have ideas for other processes and tasks that Bionic could automate for you? We welcome your suggestions.
We’d love to include your improvements on our product roadmap. Please let us know.
Another Good Year in 2025
We’re looking forward to another year full of new challenges and, hopefully, big accomplishments.
Thank you for working with us. 🙏
